The company I would have liked to work for...

Inertia Beverage Company is a company I found out about a year or so ago.  They make point-of-sale (POS) software that makes it easy for wineries to sell direct to consumer.  There's an  article in the local Napa paper written about their CEO, Paul Mabray who's a local Napan.

I've always liked what this company has done.  The latest service they're providing now is providing a free web API that helps winery POS systems keep track of all the various state laws regarding shipping to a specific state -- and there are a ton of laws.  What's interesting is there's a company called 688 in Colorado that charges for this service, and this service is their primary business.  It's an adjunct to what Inertia Beverage does.  It's a very strategic move on Inertia's part.

I would have loved to work for this company in the beginning.  Unfortunately, their development is done in Manhattan, though they have a local Napa sales office.  They seem like they're doing really well now, too.  Too bad I didn't know about them earlier.

Hey Martin. Thanks for the kind words regarding Inertia. As a matter of fact, we moved our entire tech department out to Napa starting last October, and it has helped us tremendously in terms of refining our product in line with customer expectations.

You know as well as I that when it comes to cutting-edge technology, it gets lonely out here in this valley.

Feel free to reach out to me (patrick at inertiabev.com) if you want to talk shop.
